We strongly recommend this book for several reasons.

  • It encourages you to get started, and points out the great benefit of even a small amount of regular exercise.
  • It is based on medical research, and written by a qualified physician who himself had a risk of heart attack from his parents.
  • It sets out, in Chapter 9, details of assessing your risk before you start exercising.

Moreover, Dr. Simon comments on how exercise improves your health in the context of specific disease, including type 2 diabetes, cardiac problems, breast and colon cancer. This site would prefer that you work up to more vigorous exercise, but a small amount of daily exercise is better than just sitting there.
