Strong and running
Start your fitness program as you are. This is what gets you in better physical condition: start slow and easy, work up gradually, and you will enjoy the daily improvement in fitness.
Fitness programs are for health, for strength and speed.
To get healthy, you will enjoy walking to start, and you will love working up to daily running. The key is to start slow and do it every day.
Walking and running is the best exercise. Outdoor walking and running usually works well and is inexpensive. Gym workouts can include a treadmill. Getting to the gym may require commuting in your car. A treadmill at home is the most convenient way to get your daily workout.
Strength workouts require resistance, by weights, using your own weights, or by elastic bands. A dumbbell set is great for strength workouts at home, where you may not have anyone to spot you when you try a heavier weight.
In every case, especially if you have any health issues, get clearance from your physician before you start your program. If you are not in shape for a treadmill program, you can start with an easier program on an exercise bike. You are invited to visit our sister site for recumbent and upright exercise bikes, and spinning bikes. And when you are ready to hit it faster and harder, take a look at the treadmills we recommend on this site.
