Starting up by walking on treadmill
The best exercise machine for most people is the treadmill. A treadmill can be used for beginners to get started at a slow but steady pace. As you get in shape, the same treadmill can crank up your speed, and can let you walk or run at an incline.
Since disuse is the worst outcome for the human body, consider how you can get beyond good intentions and into a daily exercise program. Everyone likes the convenience and safety of a treadmill. For me, it is a great way to listen to audio books, using an mp3 player. Some like music, but having an interesting book read out loud is more fun. If you work out at a comfortable speed, it is not a burden and becomes an enjoyable part of the day.
Of course, we encourage you to check in with your physician, especially if you have any health issues, before you start your exercise program.
Exercise machines take up space. Folding treadmills can be put somewhat out of the way. The most heavy-duty treadmills, for example the continuous duty commercial treadmills used in fitness clubs, do not fold.
Walking is the most natural form of exercise. On the treadmill, you do not enjoy the outdoors. But you also have no concern about the weather. Beginners can be surprised at how easy it is to get an exercise program started on a treadmill. You just decide what is the best pace to start, and try it. The next day, the same simple exercise on the treadmill and in a few days you may notice the subtle improvement in your physical condition. Just a start, but it is there.
Best wishes for you to start a better life by daily exercise. This site has treadmills, but you could do a short walk today, and write down the date and how many minutes you walked.
